CANOPE ANUBIS
Hand-carved limestone sculpture inspired by Anubis, the Ancient Egyptian god of the dead, represented by a jackal or the figure of a man with the head of a jackal. The canopy shape refers to Canopic Jars used by the Ancient Egyptians during the mummification process to store and preserve the viscera of their owner for the afterlife. They were commonly carved from limestone or were made of pottery.
