Hand-carved limestone sculpture inspired by Anubis, the Ancient Egyptian god of the dead, represented by a jackal or the figure of a man with the head of a jackal. The canopy shape refers to Canopic Jars used by the Ancient Egyptians during the mummification process to store and preserve the viscera of their owner for the afterlife.
