BABI
Hand-carved limestone sculpture inspired by Babi. In Ancient Egyptian religion, Babi was the deification of the baboon, one of the animals present in ancient Egypt. His name is usually translated as “bull of the baboons”, roughly meaning “chief of the baboons”. The canopy shape refers to Canopic Jars used by the Ancient Egyptians during the mummification process to store and preserve the viscera of their owner for the afterlife. They were commonly carved from limestone or were made of pottery
